Sector Champions
KP-REACH champions are health, justice, political, religious and traditional leaders who are involved in advocacy and sensitization on the rights of key populations in their communities and to shift negative attitudes towards them. Read about some of our champions below:
Meet Our Sector Champions

Maswati Dludlu
I am Maswati Dludlu from Eswatini; and I am a male adult who is a human rights and cultural activist by my involvement in the arts sector. Though I started my career as an educator, I later became a community developer and a full time arts practitioner something I am currently involved in. in the KP REACH programme I am a focal person in the cultural sector within the intention to influence traditional, community and national leadership.

Caroline Maposhere
I am Caroline Maposhere from Zimbabwe. I am a Key Populations Regional Champion representing the religious sector. I am a Registered Nurse, nurse midwife and a public health nurse with a Bachelor of Theology and a Master of Philosophy in Counselling Studies. I work as an ordained pastor who counsels Christian congregants from various churches on sexualcand reproductive health issues.

Khanyisile Nyembe
I am Khanyisile Nyembe, nee Lukhele. I am a Key Population Officer at the Eswatini National AIDS Programme. My key duty is to coordinate all HIV interventions targeting key populations. These includes ensuring that key populations have access to comprehensive and stigma free health services by training health workers on the health needs of these
populations and also promote access to those services by key populations. I have an LLB and Honours in HIV Management. I am one of the health sector champions from Eswatini.

Fr. Martin Bob Kalimbe
My name is Fr. Martin Bob Kalimbe, a
Malawian, an ordained Anglican Priest, and
a Social activist. I’m a SAFAIDS Champion
belonging to Religious sector. My role as a
Champion, I have been engaging my fellow
religious leaders to change their homophobic
attitude towards the LGBTIQ and Sex
workers. My strong conviction comes from
the Scripture that we were all created in the
image of God and therefore we do not need
to stigmatize and discriminate each other
based on sexual orientation, gender identity
or work.

Roy Lukama
He is the HIV/TB/SRHR Specialist under USAID and volunteer
consultant Clinician for Transbantu Zambia and Friends of Rainka. He
provides leadership on the healthcare advocacy and awareness for
the key population. Roy was instrumental in organizing healthcare
providers to respect human rights and health for all in Zambia and has
since contributed to establishing a vibrant and successful rapport
between health care providers and the key population groups in
Zambia. He trained health providers about the key population under
friends of Rainka and strengthened the referral system between the LGBTI community and Local Public Clinic/Hospital.

Lubinda
My name is Lubinda, am a KP REACH
Champion representing Zambia under the
Health Sector. I hold a bachelor of Social
Work, diploma in Rural and Urban
Management with a certificate in
Community Development. I have 16 years
of vast experience in working with Key
Populations particularly the LGBTI
community and FSWs in country and across
Southern Africa. I am currently an
Independent Consultant on Key
Populations, Social Science Research,
Community HIV Prevention and Health care service improvement. My role as a KPREACH
Champion is to provide a platform that enables Key Populations' to access quality and
affordable health care provision without discrimination and stigmatization by engaging
government and its stakeholders at all levels. My vision is to see a country's healthcare
system offering an environment free provision of healthcare services for the wellbeing of all.

Phathaphatha Saul Mdluli
My full name is Phathaphatha Saul Mdluli. I am a national of
Eswatini (formerly Swaziland). I am employed by the Eswatini
Judiciary under the Ministry of Justice as a Senior Magistrate. In
the KP REACH program currently undertaken by SAfAIDS, I am
the Justice Sector Champion.

Hon Deus Gumba
I am Hon Deus Gumba- MP from Malawi. I am the HIV/AIDS & Nutrition Parliament portfolio chairperson in Malawi. I am a KP Political Champion involved in promoting enactment of legislation that is in line with non-discriminatory health rights and access for all people.
